There is a lot of fear and anxiety out there in the world right now. So many things are uncertain. As humans, we crave routine and certainty.
There are circumstances that we can’t control.
Stock Market DeclineSchools and Businesses Closed
We have thoughts about these circumstances. What are yours? I have been hearing a lot of, “this is awful”, “What if I or someone in my family gets sick”, ” I don’t know what to do with my kids all day”, “I lost so much money”, “I feel stuck”.
These types of thoughts lead to a lot of uneasy feelings such as anxiety, dread, panic, and overwhelm just to name a few.
I want you to examine how you are feeling. Maybe it’s a roller coaster of emotions. When you are feeling negative emotions, ask yourself what thoughts are causing these emotions. Are they based on actual facts? A lot of the time the answer is No. They are just stories in our heads. That’s ok, just try and recognize the difference.
Think about how you want to feel. Maybe it’s less scared, less anxious, and more in control.
What are some thoughts you would need to start thinking to create these feelings? Your thoughts are something you CAN control, even when it seems like you can’t.
